I am flying into San Juan in late May. What's the best way to get to Culebra for a day trip? Thanks.

Depends on where you are staying.
If staying in San Juan, there is a high speed ferry service, ATHENA, that will have you in Culebra in less than two hours.
If staying in the Fajardo area, the ferry will get you there in about 65 minutes.
Or you may choose to fly and get there sooner.
See the post regarding flying on demand, on this forum.
However, in one day you may loose time in either ferry, and the island is so beautiful that you will want more time.
Have to mention that in Culebra, everything takes time, any activity takes a slow pace, so do not be in a rush, and you'll enjoy whatever you can see in a few hours.

I Think taking the Ferry is such a great experience, but just as Jose said, try to be there early so you can take the earliest ride from Fajardo to Culebra. I live in Philadelphia and I went to Culebra for my honeymoon. When you take the ferry from Fajardo, it is like a trip in itself. You can see other Islands on the way to Culebra.

I am staying at the Marriott in San Juan near Condado. How far is the ferry from that location? Thanks.

If you are talking about ATHENA in SJU, mabye 15/20 minutes.
If you are talking about the Fajardo ferry, it may take you about one hour drive.
The ferry from Fajardo leaves at 0930, 1330, 1730 ( not sure ), if you decide for this ferry, be sure to get to Fajardo at least one hour before departure.
The ferry will take about one hour to get to Culebra.
