Got back last week from 13th trip to Culebra. We took friends this time for first time ever and they are hooked. Stayed at a house rented from Culebra Island Realty and it was great - sited on Pela/Almodovar Bay. Beautiful location and they were great to rent from. Jim Galasso was very helpful; we'll be back with them since our friends want to come back and we need a 2 or 3 bedroom place.
Took our friends snorkeling twice at Carlos Rosario and it did not disappoint naturally. They were thrilled with it. Corals and fish were excellent. Also saw octupus, small shark and tiny hawksbill turtle while there. SNorkeled at tamarindo as well and also pleased there. Swam at Zoni but got caught ina rainstorm while way down the beach. Flamenco nice as usual. Did a Culebrita trip with Luis Grundler and had an excellent time. Luis was very good and is recommended. Tried Melones but too much surge and silt and also many urchins once again.
kayaked in and around Pela and found that quite nice. Food was very good this trip; had great dinners at Dakity restaurant at Bahia Marina, Juanita Bananas (of course), BarbaraRosa's, Dingy Dock, and glad to report a terrific meal at Seabourne (it's been awhile since I could say that).
Naturally we got great lunchmeats, breads and terrific wines at El Eden and did our rentals at Cava for snorkel equipment and some other items with excellent results. Groceries at Milka, Myra and smaller items at Colmado Genesis- these were very convenient and worthwhile. Rented jeep from Jerry's and that was terrific of course.
My hats off to the merchants on the island, who have done a great job of making the trips better all the time in terms of customer satisfaction and ensuring an easy, relaxing trip experience. Our friends were so impressed with Culebra and it made us look like terrific hosts.
