Before you go anywhere, make sure your reel will cast! My husband bought a brand new reel last year to take with us, walked down Flemenco Beach to the end of one part of it, cast the reel and it wouldn't cast. Talk about mad? Oh my God!
A great place to catch those red fish (not the snappers) is right in front of the museum (near the cemetary). There's a dock you can sit on so you don't have to go out in the water. We caught a ton of fish there. The museum is near the bay, and you can actually see our little blue shack on the hill from there (if you know where to look for it).
There's a hardware/gas station that sells hooks if you run short of those, but just take your pole and rod and buy squid at the gas station/hardware store. It's very reasonable.
