Bahía Marina?

Hi everyone! My husband and I will be spending part of our 10th anniversary trip on Culebra. We are considering a variety of places, but he likes the looks of the view from Bahia Marina and the fact that they have a pool for a quck dip in the early evenings. The problem is that I cannot find any real info or current reviews on this place other than their web site. We're also considering a couple places in town, but I'd really appreciate any feedback you can offer regarding Bahia Marina. I know it's a little pricey, but it's our anniversary, so we don't mind so much. Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I actually cannot find any reviews on Trip Advisor, I always look there first. I also did a search on this forum, but didn't find a whole lot. The few posts I did find were pretty outdated and I read somewhere that this hotel changed owners or managers early last year. I'd love some current feedback if anyone has any. Beachbound, I'll try again to track down your review. Maybe I missed it the first time.

I think that the resort that has turned over ownership/management is Costa Bonita. Hope that helps.

No, Bahia Marina did go through some internal changes. It's a good spot, pretty pools, entertainment on occasion; upscale for Culebra, but still casual. A rental car would be needed unless you are into serious hiking/walking.

How far of a drive is Bahia Marina from town? Is it an easy road to navigate at night? We were planning to rent a jeep anyway.

My husband and I have stayed at Bahia Marina several times and really enjoy the place. Love the view, love the pool, and love having our own little kitchen to cook an occasional meal. I think it's a nice choice for an anniversary trip. We've driven many times at night from town back to Bahia Marina and it's a pretty easy drive.

Thanks so much for your reply JM. They actually offered us a good rate (way better than advertised on their website) so we just went ahead and booked for our three nights on Culebra. We just recieved our confirmation via e-mail. I love how the reservation company has to put a "rooster clause" in their disclaimer section for all their Culebra properties. That's awesome! I never feel like I'm really on vacation without roosters :)

Thanks for posting the Rooster clause Michael! I just now had a chance to log on. Very busy at work today. Debbie, you're correct that we'd probably have lots in common with your Deadhead hubby! We'll be on Culebra April 22 - 25 and I can't wait. Work is really sucking right now.
