Arriving in Culebra with no accommodations

My husband and I are planning a trip to Culebra sometime in late December or early January. We never make advance reservations anywhere we go, and typicaly find accomodations when we get to the place. What are the chances of finding a nice place to stay for a few days once we get to the island? Any recommendations?

Since New Years is the busiest I've ever seen the island, it seems foolhardy to me. Why do you not plan ahead?

I second Doug's advice. Unless you come in January - you'll wind up on the beach ..

do not scold this girl boys!!! Listen try Hotel Puerto Rico,very near the dock or bring a tent and have great time with good facilities at Flamenco Bay. Try to get to Culebra during the labor days not the week end. and you will see that you might find something there. If not, come to my guest house that is economical and enjoy all the beaches in the big island. write me to this e mail but better to alexisa_2001@hotmail.com

Zoraida, the "boys" were not scolding marketa at all, but rather giving them mindful advice.

New Year's is by far the busiest time of the year in Culebra. If you skip that date, you may stand a chance. I have showed up without accomodations in Culebra before and lucked out. Heck, I even stayed at a local's house that I met that afternoon once. BUT if you don't want the headache of the possibility of spending the night at the beach with the mosquitos, I suggest planning ahead.

kayra, are you from Puerto Rico? there are jokeful ways of saying things here. So I obviously know that Doug is right in what he is told her but there is always a chance. And the quote on boys don't go, because in Spanish is Muchachos, = young guys. and youth is forever.

The word "scold" is a bit on the harsh side.

In English you don't usually call an adult "boy" or "girl" unless they are your close friends. It has nothing to do with the fountain of youth. lol

kayra thanks, I already arranged with Doug, IT is a difference of language what make it sounds harsh, also writting you can't hear the entonation of a joke way of talking. But thanks your note made me conscious, after reacting personally, and I communicate directly to Doug and he didn't mind at all but we made a good communication in e mail, even I ended up talking about Loiza festival to him.
