I'll try answering your questions:
1.What did you do at night? Not much goes on at night. You can walk on the beach under star-lit skies... You can go to town for restaurants--but they generally shut down by 9:00PM.
2. Are there fire pits at every site and can you have a fire anytime? Open fires are not allowed. Charcoal grills are available.
3. Is the food reasonably priced, in stores and restaurants? Mamacitas is generally $20-40 per person. Some more-local places serve food for less. Groceries are generally 1.5X to2X what you pay on the main land.
4. Anything you recommend? Bring good-quality sleeping mats--the sand packs hard as rock. A well-ventilating tent is a must--make sure the screens are intact. Insect repellent, sunscreen (be very careful with the sun there)
5 Do you think there is a best campsite? Area E is nice, but requires the most walking to get there. All the sites are quite nice, as long as it is not too crowded--which it should not be in winter. 3-King's Day Weekend (This Weekend), President's day weekend, and Easter Holiday are typically really crowded. I would avoid those days.
I'll be there at the end of the month...
Enjoy,
Detlef
