Is it possible to kayak to the Culebrita or other small islands? How long will it take? Is it safe?

How can I transport a rented kayak to the zoni beach to pedal to the Culebrita from there?

I've kayaked Culebra several days with locally rented kayaks of rather poor quality. That was Xmas 1999. Looks like there are more rentals now. Its safe and gives great access to some of the best beaches and snorkeling I've found anywhere. We took a water taxi from town to Culebrita and paddled back one day. I'm looking for good sources of rentals to do guided trips with small groups from the USA. If you're interested, drop me a note.
