Just finished planning our trip to PR/Culebra in August. We're flying into SJ, renting a car, and heading to Fajardo for 3 nights at the El Conquistador Resort.
Then its off the Culebra for four nights. I chose Club Seabourne over Bahia Marina.
Originally I had wanted to stay at Bahia Marina. I called, and spent about 10 minutes on the telephone with a gentleman from there, and he took down all my information (minus a credit card) and presumably made my reservation. He told me that someone would call me by Friday of that week to confirm it, and take my deposit, etc. Never got the phone call!! I called back the other day to confirm/see what the deal was, and I was given a phone number to call. The phone number wound up being to a third party booking service which apparanlty books for a lot of properties on Culebra, including Bahia Marina. The as the rate they gave me a lot higer ($240 -- are you KIDDING!!!!) than the $160 Bahia quoted me when I called directly. Frustrated at this point, I hung up, and faxed in a reservation request to Club Seabourne. I'll call today to confim they recieved it.
I don't understand why it it was such a project to book with Bahia Marina? I know this isn't the corporate America, and things are a little more relaxed, but when you run a business, and have a potential customer, you seal the deal right then and there. Instead, they lost business. I know it probably doesn't mean anything to them, but it does to me. Frustrated. Arghhhhhhh!
