San juan to Fajardo Ferry??

Hello,

I am flying into San Juan and the next day am planning on travelling to Fajardo to take the Ferry to Culebra. I am trying to find various ways (most inexpensive and fastest) to get me from San juan to the ferry in Fajarta. I thought a car rental would be the cheapest, however it seems like only 2 or 3 car rental companies actaully operate in Fajardo and then they charge $30 on top of the rental fee. There will only be two of us travelling. I saw online a company called Travel with Padin, does anyone know about this company?? Is is safe, reliable? I also saw online that you can take Publico Transportation from Rio Piedras but we will have luggage and it will be a Friday that we will be travelling. Can Someone please tell me the best, most hassle free, cheapest, and safest way to get from san juan to the ferry in Fajardo.

Hi Danielle,

You may REALLY want to explore taking the flights from either SJU (International Airport) or the Isla Grande Airport (close to Old San Juan and maybe a little less money). A round trip by air will run you about $100 per person. In order to take the ferry out of Fajardo. You would have to take a taxi (round-trip from San Juan) which will run you well over $60 each way. Then take the ferry out of Fajardo (not much at all). The journey could take up to 6 hours door to door each way! That's 12 hours off your vacation, dragging your luggage! For about $50 more total, you'll fly in 30 minutes from San Juan to Culebra and be on the beach before noon! Here are phone#'s to the airlines servicing the route. Isla Nena Air Service (787-741-1577) and Air Flamenco (787-724-1818), and from San Juan Isla Grande Airport (SIG) on Vieques Air Link (787-722-3736) and Air Flamenco (787-724-6464).
