Question about ferry ride from Fajardo to Culebra at 4am

Author: Tim (---.ips-sendero.com) Date:   03-15-06 11:07 I see that the Ferry leaves Fajardo at 4am with Cargo (as well as people). Does this mean that they will take people that have no cargo? Or do I need to wait untill the 9am ferry? I will have no luggage, only a single backpack. I will be arriving in San Juan at 11pm on a thursday night, then a taxi ride to Fajardo will take about 2 hours, so this will put me at the Ferry around 1:30~2am Friday morning. I hate to get a room for such a short time especially since I have been told that I should be at the Ferry at least an hour before departure. Aslo, will I have trouble getting a taxi from San Juan airport to Fajardo at 11:30 at night? Thanks in advance.

You would probably do best to pre-arrange a taxi to Fajardo (see Transport on this site). I have used Padin, and believe they will pick you up any time of the day or night, but you have to make a reservation. The taxi ride to Fajardo at 11pm likely will take 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes. 2 hour time frame usually only applies to day time when there can be very heavy traffic. Happy Diving! Debbie

Author: Michael (---.c3-0.nyw-ubr2.nyr-nyw.ny.cable.rcn) Date:   03-16-06 18:29 I personally have missed that ferry due to Padín's a. late arrival (he came around 12.45) at the airport and b. then driving at 35mph on a completely empty highway ... there were a ton of taxis available (when the flight arrived, NOT later) which would have taken me to Fajardo for the same price, but I (thought I) had made arrangements?! I would hop in the next available taxi at that time of night - they will be happy to get such a high paying fare as opposed to Metro San Juan, just make sure you agree on the price! Enjoy Culebra! The only person who has comments about me is you (Michael). But I have good clients that I have gave them transportation and they are very happy with my transportation service.
