The Fork Less Traveled ...
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Can any of the folks that lurk on this board recommend a restaurant or two that are geared more to the local population that the "tourists". These better-known establishments are great ... Bahia marina, Club Seabourne Mamacitas, Dinghy Dock, Juanita Bananas, Oasis (is it open?), El Batey, Barbara-Rosas etc. I enjoy them all!

But what else is there? I miss Las Delicias (sp) and their conch salad! Where do the locals go that doesn't get publicized? Is Tina's open? Looking for input for a two week visit in February.

Frank

ps -- If it gives you any idea, I prefer a beer at Hotel Puerto Rico or Happy Landings to the better known places.

Tina's was real good, it was sold and the new owner seemed good the last time I was there, there is La Poncena, very little but very good.
Thas is near the airport.

La Bahia at Culebra Ocean View (click on "FOOD" to the left to find it) sounds like the place for you but I think they don't serve alcohol there so you'll have to bring your own beer. Wonderful hospitality...not fancy but great food.

The small restaurant "La pista" close to the airport does very good "Comida criolla" for lunch and breakfast. And it is cheap and the locals go there a lot.

There's a new business on one of the streets near the airport (sorry, I can't think of the name of it right now), but they sell baked potatoes for $5. They put whatever you want on them, and it's a cheap meal!
