I've been coming to these boards on and off the last couple of years. Each time hoping to make it to Culebra. This time, I think we will finally be able to do it possibly the end of May / beginning of June. Would this be a good / bad time to camp out at Playa Flamenco? I just want to be sure there isn't any kind of holiday or celebration going on that might keep us from a good night's rest! :)
More Playa Flamenco questions:
*How far is the campsite to the water?
* Are the no-see-ums and mosquitos vicious? Is deet required or will natural repellants be sufficient?
* Are there pay phones in Playa Flamenco??
* How far is the nearest store that sells coolers / ice / charcoal / fluid, etc.
Would like any feedback on taking Island Hi-Speed Ferry from SJU to Culebra. Would this be the easiest and most economical way to get to Culebra?
Transportation around the island. Is it possible to call a publico to pick you up? If so, how reliable is it? I'm trying to figure out if it's really necessary for us to rent a jeep or a scooter throughout the whole time we're there. Would like to try to keep our budget as minimal as possible.
I've also read somewhere that there is a rental place that rents out The Thing - would anyone know which rental company this is and their contact information? How much does it cost?
Thanks everyone!
