Camping Advice

My fiance and I have heard camping on Culebra is a lot of fun, not to mention an inexpensive way to enjoy the island. We're both pretty avid campers, but I'm curious if anyone has some advice for us. We'll be in Culebra the middle of June for about a week.

Just get to Flamenco, there is the camping area. It is a lot of fun, however, you'll need some public transport to get something to eat.
If you are late birds, in Flamenco there are junk food after 1100.
The beach is great, and the possibilities of good snorkel, and swiming are very good too.

I've got most things sorted out expect the camp site. Normally this isn't something I'm too concerned with and am happy to roll up and grab a spot. However, like many, we're traveling pretty far to get to Culebra. I've placed a number of calls to the camp site number listed here. After calling around, everyone gives me that number - problem is, no one is picking up.

Short of someone shaking them down and getting them to answer the phone (which seems unlikely), how busy are the camp grounds between June 18th and June 24th? Should I approach this as I do every other camping trip or dare I continue to bother the folks at the camping office?

Also, since Capt Guzman mentioned public transportation, I've been thinking of renting a scooter from, perhaps, Culebra Scooter. Any thoughts?

Thanks again for your help, we're both extremely excited about visiting - we've even started to threaten our friends and family that we are not coming back.

The camping area is located inside the facilities of Flamenco Beach.
There, you may find cold drinks, hamburgers, pizza, and maybe pork or chicken kabobs.
However, they do not open for breakfast, still need to find how to grab something to eat, in the morning.
It is all junk food, for a good meal, you have to go close to the airport, or to Dewey, long way to walk, very long.
So in my opinion it is necessary some sort of transportation, there you will find plenty of it after 0930/1000, for a little more than a dollar each way.
Said all this, need to know where to get tents, or if you are going to bring your stuff, which may be a little uncomfortable to do so.
Once there, and all food & tents dilema being solved, you will have a very nice stay. In the month of June, there are few locals from mainland partying around, so good month.

You should be able to make your decision with what you have seen here.
If that is not enough, you need to make specific questions, I do not think nobody here is capable of imagine what your needs are, or what you are looking for.

Hello I've camped at flamco a cople of times. My sugestion about the food is to bring a cooler and store food. You can buy ice in the camping grounds. I've always stayed only two night and tree days, so I brought what I ate from the main Island. You can alway stake the shuttle (2$) and refill in town. We had a gas cooker and we made rice, chuletas, hot dogs, hamburgers, Pasta (canned), sandwish, soup, potatoes and well igues you can cook anithing.

If you just want to stay in flamenco you dont have to rent anithing but if you want to esplore the island extensevly then rent.

If you'r with your family (small children, elderly) you would want to stay in section A, it's more quite. If you want to be able to party go section c or any that's not A. And remember not bring glass to flamenco it's not aloowed and they will make you trow it away.

So.. I read you can rent tents. How much would that be???

And how much in advance should we reserve a spot?
