Rain in Culebra...
Culebra, Puerto Rico
Author: Gordon D. Bell (---.68.bard.edu)
Date:   03-24-05 16:29

I just read on Weather.Com that most of next week there will be scattered showers in Culebra. What should I make of this? Is rain in Culebra kind of like rain in Florida, where it will be sunny one moment and then rain hard for a brief period? Or is it likely to be consistently grey?
Thanks.

Nobody beats nature... if you area planning to come, just come.
If your plans depend on rain, do not come.
What if I tell you that is not going to rain, and then you find lots of clouds...

You are asking a dumb question, better ask God.

I'm not asking you to predict the weather, so it's actually not that dumb. Rain storms differ a lot from place to place, and I was wondering what kind of patterns are to be expected on a dry island like Culebra. Guess I'll ask somewhere else.

I'm happy to hear it may rain. I'm sure those suffering from the fires will be happy and I am a little concerned about not having water on the island when we are there!! We are also coming next week and I guess if it rains, we will have rain in paradise. It beats Wisconsin weather!! See you there! ~~Wendy

I wouldn't pay too much mind to predictions of endless showers. It may rain some, but in my experience you'll get some good beach time in also. The rain clouds seem to come and go here. Enjoy!

It's the dry season right now. Any rain showers will be passing quickly, and things will dry out quickly. Culebra could use the rain right now. Don't let a chance of showers ruin your vacation plans. Go and enjoy.

Happy Diving!

Having a bad day?

Here's a suggestion...if you have nothing helpful to post then keep quiet.

Gordon,

Your question is not stupid. If I understand you correctly, you are asking for a better description of Culebra's typical rain showers (not for a weather prediction)? Based on my experience in Culebra, their rain showers are very similar to the spring showers of South Florida. The storms are scattered and light, but usually pass and leave patches of sunshine.

Please don't allow the condescending reply of one individual to in any way reflect the hospitality that you usually receive from the guest of this post.

By the way>>> Don't put to much consideration into any replies posted by a Captain who spends more time on this website than he spends on the water!

Enjoy the beauty of Culebra!

I'll follow your advise Sharon, SORRY if I offended someone, yes it was a bad day.

To Franco, I have spent over 3000 days in the water, as required by USCG.
80% in the waters of Culebra.

Gordon,
Please do not listen to Jose Guzman. He has no idea what he is talking about. I have visited Culebra for five years. You can get a weather forcast from San Juan and it is never the same forcast. Culebra gets about one tenth of the rain as the big island. Remember one great point: San Juan has a rainforest. They almost always have rain in the forecast. The rainy season in Culebra is November. In the five years I've been going, at different months, I have never seen rain except for a few minutes at a time!!!

Jose,
I would like to know who you are. You give bad info sometimes and nobody on the island even knows you. I think this is just a fun thing for you to do. Have you fished Culebra? I don't think so. Have you dived in Culebra? I don't think so. Do you know anywhere to stay other than Villa Boheme. I don't think so. You sound like a broken record. There are many, many options in Culebra and you don't know any of them!!!

Jose,
Sure you think I'm an ignorant. I just read too much from your replies that isn't true. I have never surfed Culebra but you say that there isn't enough break. You are dead wrong. Hike to Brava sometime.
You are making Culebra to soud like they have shark infested waters. Oh, maybe a nurse shark or so. Have you fished Culebra? I don't think so. I have . How much have you dived around Culebra? Not much? I have. Please don't call me an ignorant until you back up what you say!! And why doesn't anyone know who you are?

Jose Guzman:

I was a marine law enforcement agent, covering all the east coast of Puerto Rico including Vieques and Culebra and I actually lived there for over 12 years and I should know who you are, but I don`t remember. Can you refresh my memory? Do you used to work for Port Authorities? Also is not a requirement to have 3000 days in the water in order to get a 100 tons USCG license, thats like almost 9 years. I think you are talking about hours. Don`t get cranky because of my questions, I`m just trying to find out who you are. Thanks!

YOu are a hidden agent, I suppose JAMES BOND.

You do not know what you are talking about.
My son , and my nephew, works for the USCG.
AND I AM TALKING ABOUT 3000 DAYS, NOT HOURS.
I have been in the water for 22 years... Do you know english, do you know spanish, chinesse....
For a 100GT license you need at least 720 days, not HOURS.
For the USCG 4 hours is one day. My Cousinn works for the New Orleans Police he's a captain there.
Your law enforcement agency does not a thing about USCG , mind your own bussiness.

Capt. Nemo

I`m not a hidden agent, everybody knows who I am but you, because you are not from Culebra. People like you we call them "agregao". I lived there for 12 years in Villa Flamenco, my son was born in Culebra that`s unussual. like I said everybody knows me, from the people that works with the ports authorities to the person that sweep the streets every day in the morning. I know english, spanish and italian, entendiste ignorante!!!!!!!!
Capt. Nemo let me tell you that I was graduated from FLETC MLETP-701 USCS ask your son what that`s means, I worked for seven years on P.R. east coast waters and I never heard about you. I`m not a Cranky person like you are, specially when somebody doesn`t agree with you on this forum. You are the kind of person that beleive that allways is right and never wrong.
Capt. Nemo I knew that for a 100gt USCG license you need to have 720 days of sea service and each day is the equivalent to 4 hrs. 90 days must be in the last three years of sea service. If you read again your statement on 03-25-05 15:11 you said "I have spent over 3000 days in the water, as required by USCG" dose are your own words. The USCG doesn`t require 3000 days like you just said. They require 720, I though that you was talking about hours because if you multiply 720 times 4=2880 around 3000. I don`t know how you have a 100gt license if you don`t know the basic principles of multiplications. You need that for plotting, maybe you don`t even know how. Maybe you took your license with the dominicans that live in Maternillo, Fajardo.
Capt. Nemo When I wrote to you on my first message, it wasn`t my intentions to make you upset. I told you by the end of my message. Unfortunately I live in Florida and can`t meet you in Culebra now, but I might go for vacations during summer, may be we can go to Mamasitas for a couple of beers and talk about boating. Mr. Jose Guzman see ya` and no bad feelings.

Sr. Jose Guzman

Gracias!
