i'm coming to culebra during the week leading in to Easter. i was wondering what kinds of festivals or processions there might be on culebra.

About religious, there may be some, since the people of Culebra are devoted. The location, have to ask.
About carnivals, on the area of Flamenco you'll see crazy partying, I would not go there to camp.

Hey Judy,

Be warned that Semana Santa is a HUGE holiday and thousands of people from Puerto Rico will be hitting up Culebra. Honestly, you will have a very hard time finding room on the ferries unless you get there very early. You might want to pre-book a flight. Culebra is wonderful, just be prepared for crowds and partying that week.

MY FAMILY AND I ARE STAYING IN ARROYO DURING SEMANA SANTA I KNOW THIS IS OFF TOPIC I WISH WE COULD VISIT CULEBRA . WE VISITED IN NOV AND LOVED THE BEACHES AND THE PEOPLE WE MET.DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE HAVE SUGGESTIONS FOR THINGS TODO OR SEE IN THE SOUTHEAST PART OF PUERTO RICO. 9 YEAROLD GIRL& 12 YR OLD SON WE LIKE HIKING BIKING HORSEBACKING BEACHES,ETC. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INPUT GRACIOUS

The southeast area, from Guayama to Humacao, remain to remember us what P.R. was many years ago.
I mean, the road ( route 3 )still the same, with many small hotels and restaurants.
There is a light house in Maunabo, and the road from Maunabo to Yabucoa is beautiful.
The beaches there are not as good as those in the West or Northeast, but still provide anyone with a nice view, time to relax and enjoy.
There is a government hotel in Arroyo, do not remember the name, and if still in service, the train that was used to carry sugar cane was/is active covering part of the route of many years ago.
In that area, if you go west to Salinas, you may enjoy our best MOJO ISLENO, That is fish, with a tasty onion sauce.
Most restaurants there will serve it, but my choice is La Barca.
It is located in a watefront, where they have a small marina, and boat rides to nearby cays.

Jose, thanks for your input. We are leaving wednesday morning. I will take your recomendation for Mojo isleno. The next trip to P.R. we hope to stay longer in Culebra. Last time there we met Marta Canovas, she gave us a paper for beach villas as we ate her fritatas. I thought it best to avoid the island during this busy time. Gracious for your time.
