Camping in Culebra

My girlfriend and I are planning to visit Culebra the week of Thanksgiving (11/23 to 11/27) and we are planning to stay at the campground near Flamenco Beach. Does anybody know if the campground will be open that week? Is a reservation needed?

We were also wondering if if we should rent a car when get there or get a cab to the campground and then rent bikes or scooters to get around the island. Any suggestions? is it safe to leave our stuff on the campground premises or should we rent a car and leave our stuff in the car when we are not around?

Hello Manoli,

Yes, the campground is now open at Flamenco Beach. Here, at Culebra, you need some way of transportation, because the "publicos" do not work to go aorund the Island or at night. For example, if you want to go to a grocery store or to a bar or a restaurant is a little difficult to find transportation.

We have scooters and also we are an agency of Thrifty Car Rental, we have all brand new vehicles from 2005. From compact cars (Toyota, Corollas) $35.00 24hrs., jeeps wrangler 4x4, automatic, convertible, A/C, minivans and pick ups.

Remember we are surrounded by beautiful beaches, do not concentrate in Flamenco.

MY HUSBAND AND 2 CHILDREN AGES 7 AND 10 WOULD LIKE TO CAMP OR RENT A HUT OR CABIN IN MARCH/ APRIL OF 2005. CAN YOU RECOMMEND A PLACE FOR US. WE PLAN ON SNORKLING, KAYAKING, AND BIKING. WE ARE FINDING IT DIFFICULT MAKING RESERVATIONS. WE LIKE THE IDEA OF HAVING RESERVATIONS WITH KIDS. THANK YOU.
