One-way car rental Fajardo-San Juan

After a week in Culebra, we are hoping to hire a couple of cars (group of 8 people) in Fajardo to see El Yunque and then drive to San Juan. Does anyone have any recommendations for a rental agency with an office in Fajardo? I don't know what the local Puerto Rican companies are like.

Thanks and I should mention that I really appreciate this forum. It has helped our planning tremendously!

You may want to use Padin Taxi (787-644-3091). For about $20pp, they will pick you up at the ferry and drive you to San Juan.

Driving into El Yunque on your way to San Juan is indeed a good idea!

The one way rentals will charge you an extra drop off fee though. I sometimes go to San Juan first, via plane, publico or whatever, then go to charlie's, rent their cars in condado drive around, return them and get brought to the airport by them - has worked out really well in terms of price and convenience. also you do not have to have all your stuff in the car and are more at ease to leave it somewhere in the middle of the rainforest and climb a river for a couple of hours without worrying ...

I've done one way rentals from Fajardo to SJ. It works well but you do pay extra for the one way. You could make up for the one way fee by taking the ferry(cheap) instaid of flying to Faj. I think I used Thrifty once, you picked up the car at the Conquestador? resort. A neat place to go see even if I will never stay there. I think I've used L&M also. Some of the car rental Co's will pick you up at the ferry dock or the airport. Also reserve your cars early because they don't always have cars available for the one way.
