Police on Culebra target tourists. We parked our rental golf cart in front of a gift shop by the ferry dock. There was not a yellow curb there and a sign that the area was for public transport only was a good fifty feet away and only in Spanish. We were in the gift shop for less than five minutes looking for post cards which they didn't have. We left the shop just as a police officer was completing a ticket against us. It was for $150! We tried to reason with him, but he was extremely rude and said that it was the law. We went to the police station and they were equally rude and mean spirited and said that we must pay! Lovely island, but we will not return! The locals park wherever they want, even to the extent that they repaved a Main Street while we were there, and paved around illegally parked cars, and left a void where they were parked. Three days later, the voids were still there! Maybe next year they will fill in the gaps! Pretty much ruined our experience.
