Limit on daily bank ATM withdrawls?

Hello,

Our guest house (Rosa's Place) will need its payment in cash on check-in. Since we'll be vising San Juan and El Yunque for a few days first, I don't know if I want to carry hundreds of dollars around with me through all that...

Does anyone know if the bank ATM in Dewey has a limit for how much you can withdraw in a day? And is it open 24 hours?

On the other hand, do you think there is any danger in carrying a few hundred dollars around Old San Juan, El Yunque or the Fajardo ferry terminal area?

In my experience, it is your bank which sets the upper limit on daily withdrawals. BTW you might want to notify them that you will be traveling outside of your normal charge area if you haven't done this yet. Also, you can't count on the ATM working.

Carrying cash depend (to my mind) on where you carry it, i. e., in your wallet or in a concealed passport belt and on the time you are wandering around Old San Juan. During daylight hours I wouldn't worry. Around midnight, I might worry (I know I'm paranoid but even paranoids have real enemies :-)>

Check and see if the place you are going to stay will take a postal money order. It's the same as cash and they can CASH it at the bank or post office.

Limit is $500 and it's outside and available 24/7.

How did you find out? (I am picturing you withdrawing cash for an hour just to find out for me.)

You can take a cash withdraw on your credit card from the bank downtown. That limit is whatever your cc limit is. Though there is a higher transaction fee.

LOL, but I meant the ATM is outside and available for use 24/7. The daily cash limit is $500.
