the locals fish with only a hook and the spool of line. I was with a guy who caught a large tuna on his boat and he worked it in by hand around the cleat. I stuck with driving the boat.

Is there some reason you can't take a rod and reel with you?

John
You are wrong. Fishing rods that fit in the overhead are considered "carry-ons" and they (airlines) have never counted them as one of our carry-ons. We just put them in tubes. See luggage info under Jet Blue (I don't know about other airlines) but you can check with the one you are using.

John,

Check out this travel 6.5 foot pole. Leave the case at home and just pack the reel and rod in your suitcase.

I'm taking it with me the last week of Feb along with my Crippled Herring, Deadly Dick, Gotcha Plug, and some suspending Rapala rattle lures for saltwater fish. If that doesn't work, I'll chuck some cut bait out on a Carolina Rig to see what bites!

Good Luck!

Travis

john, I will not be there til late march otherwise would join you. please post about your experience, I've been to Culebra many times but never had a bonefishing experience. Fwiw, I hear Chris Goldmark is great.

Last year I hiked to Brava and fished the rocks off to the right with plugs. Not a nibble. Has anyone had success there? Do you have to fish the incoming tide, or is it hit or miss, do you fish the pools toward shore or cast out to sea? Even with no bites it was so awesome to be there alone early in the morning (it was calm...I don't think you'd want to be out there when there were waves).

Thanks, can't wait to get back.

i did not fish but, behind Mamacitas and the dingy dock are loaded with tarpon. Go there at night and you can see them all sizes. Somewhere up those channels you will catch them iam sure. that is all i have to report. Anything else you might question let me know while it is fresh on my mind. ok
