Getting from Vieques to Culebra - flight or ferry

Dear all,
Firstly, many thanks for all the help in the past. Secondlyo, i am trying to decide whether to splurge on chartering a plane between Vieques and Culebra (seems crazy opulent) or take a ferry to Fojardo and to Culebra. I will be traveling with 2 young kids on Christmas Day (December 25)
I have 2 major conserns with the ferry:
(1) my kids get very seasick easily
(2) I worry that we wouldn't be able to get the tickets, the ferry may not run on Christmas day, or we'll waste a lot of time trying to board the ferry.

Please share your thoughts on how choppy the sea typically gets and what is the probability i'll run into problems with 2 ferries on Christmas day.

The weather can be a big factor - going to Fajardo might be easy sailing, but coming back might not be - it's impossible to know in advance.

It will def take MUCH longer!

Some people do get stuck without tickets, but since you are already there you can get them in advance.

you can fly from vieques to ceiba then ceiba to culebra.
if you call val, they may have a special price for that trip. but either way it will be about $62 each for both flights. how much is a charter from Vieques to Culebra? If it is $250, it would be worth it since there are 4 of you. but if it is $450, it is expensive.

Perhaps someone can taxi you from Vieques to Culebra. Are there any water taxi's or boats for hire?
