We stayed at Playa Azul for two weeks in 2006 in building one. Let me warn you that weekends there can be extremely noisy. You are across the road from a public beach and the locals rev up their speakers. The noise shook the walls of our unit and there was lots of screaming and cursing. Our daughter had to sleep in our AC room on weekends to drown out the sound. She also got bitten by a stray dog on the grounds. You are unable to leave the back gate that goes to the beach after sunset. It is locked up tight and you better be there or you will have to walk 2 blocks to get back to Playa Azul. It is not safe to be on the beach after sunset, therefore the locked gate. I am sure there are much nicer units than the one we stayed it. I have a trip report on Trip Advisor from 2006 about our trip, if you would like to look that up and read it. We also saw a very naked man carry his swimsuit from his car down to the water, walk into the water and put on his suit and walk back to his car. This was in full daylight. Playa Azul is okay if you are not looking for peace and quiet.
