Cheapest way to get from San Juan to Fajardo?

A couple years ago when we went to Culebra we took a taxi and spent $100 which wasnt bad for 6 of us but this year there will only be two of us... does anyone know where I can find information on a cheaper way to get there?

will you need a roundtrip price?
you can look into renting a car.
try avis.com. you book from sju to ceiba(brisas las maria)
you can rent one way and drop it off in ceiba. the people at avis will pick you up and drop you off at the ferry/airport.
or you can retun it to sju. but that means you will have to pay for the days you dont use it.
but it may be worth it if it cost too much for the one way and if you wont be in culebra for a long time.

My husband & I caught a cab from taxi stand at airport approximately five weeks ago. We paid $80. Taxis service from airport will not rip you off. Price is fijo. If you're traveling in the afternoon, allow lots of time for traffic delay, due to road works.

Thank you, I would love to take the public transportation, I saw that it said to allow 4 hours to get to fajardo, we are landing in San Juan at 2 and it seems that the last Ferry leaves at 7pm... Is this a Ferry we can count on?

There is only one carga ferry running right now. So it fills up quickly. And locals get priority for tickets. And it's very busy this week. May want to consider plan B if you miss the last ferry such as staying at the Fajardo Inn. I'm not sure if you are allowed to camp out over night at the ferry terminal.
