flight to culebra

Were going to fly out of isla grande in august I was looking on VAL the cost is pretty high 260 per person round trip I was wondering if I could save some money by taking the ferry back and hiring a cab to take us to San Juan we will have to stay overnight somewhere in San juan before catching our flight

Any advice on how much a Cab would cost from Fjardo to san juan whats the best way for me to go about this.

the return flight from culebra to san juan is going to cost us 260 dollars surely there has to be a less expensive alternative I've never been to PR before and my fear is deciding to take a cab and then getting charged an outrageous price and I end up wishing I had taken the flight.

The round trip fare per person from isla grande airport to Culebra is $130. I just booked one yesterday. The $260 would be rt for 2 passengers. You should call them back. the cab ride fron SJU to Fajardo is ~$80.

I booked SIG to Culebra yesterday, one way for two of us and it was $130.

I flew over on Air Flamenco in early December for about $120 round trip. The option of taking the taxi to Fajardo then the ferry didn't appeal to me as I've heard it's quite an odyssey that can leave you waiting around for hours and I just wanted to get there. While I found the flight cost pretty reasonable, there is a weight restriction of 25lbs, which can be tough to meet if camping. There was also an issue in that Air Flamenco seemed to have forgotten about me and one other couple. However, it did result in an impromptu flight and no charge for the extra weight! Yay!

Be prepared, if you fly, that when you get off the plane, it may be a little more challenging getting a ride as the taxis don't really hang around that airport (at least not later in the day). I stood at the side of the road for about 30 min with a couple girls from the Netherlands and some chickens. Just keep an eye out for the white vans and try to wave them down. Someone will stop. Maybe wave a bill....works in other countries. Just remember that everyone's on Caribbean time, which translates to 'no one's in a rush'. You get used to it.

Honestly, you should pay the $260 and fly to culebra from the isla grande airport. Taking the taxi is going to cost you $80 +tip, a long ride to Fajardo from SJU, a long ferry ride, and lost time that could be spent enjoying Culebra.

Since you are planning this trip 8 months in advance, why not save up the money in that time to take the flight to the island rather than the ferry? I'm typically a very frugal person, but this is one time where it's better to shell out the extra money because it saves you time and undo stress of long travel. Not sure how long the trip would be from taxi to ferry to culebra but its definitely going to be a few hours. Whereas flying only takes about 30mins of travel time.

Enjoy Culebra and Playa de Flamenco!! It's more beautiful in person than in the pictures online, I actually proposed there last month :)

I agree with Kyle completely. I've heard taking the ferry is an odyssey in itself. The island is soooo beautiful, don't waste a minute getting there. Take a day trip to Culebrita too. I was taught to body surf there on the far side by an awesome, 90 yr old nudist....you haven't lived till you've seen that!

A proposition in Culebra? That might be one of the sweetest things I've heard in a very long while. Congratulations to you both!
