where to kill a few hours between flights?

friends are flying into san juan on a red eye from LA and will have several hours to kill between landing and either the ferry or flight to culebra. could be from 9am to either the 1pm or 3pm flight. any suggestions for a nice way to spend a few hours?

Old San Juan is always great. Lots of shops, food and culture. Take a taxi to the center square and ask the driver to pick you up at whatever time. We give a nice tip and have always been picked up on time. But if your driver doesn't show, there are taxis everywhere. Years ago there were lockers where you could store your luggage, but I don't know if that is still available and don't remember where.

thanks, i'll pass it along to them. also, if they end up taking the ferry if no flights available, do you think a few hours at the conquistador is worthwhile? i've never been but it might be fun . . .

Sitting at the Conquistador is MUCH nicer than sitting at the ferry dock. You can drop your bags at the front door and they will hold them for you. They have a great pool area where you can have lunch. Magnificent view of Culebra and Vieques. Shopping and casino. And go below to check out the marina and shore walk. But the 1:00pm flight out of Grande makes for a shorter travel day.

thanks for the info. i'll pass that along. the 1pm flights may be full so the ferry might be their best option.
i've been curious about that hotel, never have enough time on shopping trips to the big island to check it out. one of these days. . . :)
