The place is an eyesore and disgrace to the Island.
It never should have been built. All the people who
bought condos lost money and they don't resell
well everyone is afraid to buy. My local friends are polite but
they don't like it. I come every year for over 10 years
for a month at least, I try to avoid looking at it, it
is so sad.

Very cute, but not too astute.
Flaming a family restaurant is
one thing, Costa Bonita is another.
It is the antithesis of everything
that is Culebra and what it stands
for. It is a Mega Resort that has
failed over and over and still is in
bankruptcy. The owners are taking
control and Culebra will have to live with
it I guess. Search Costa Bonita here and
you will find out more.

Who cares if it was harmful? Costa Bonita has dug its own grave. You're not likely to find any good press about it here because those of us that adore Culebra abhor Costa Bonita.

I know and agree with you. I just thought I would clear the air on forums being only for positive feedback. And flaming is flaming. If we all agree a business is bad or if we can't agree, it is still flaming. And there were a few people who purchased there and tried to rent them fairly and do a good job. But unfortunately even the owners who tried couldn't overcome the developers. So... is it fair to give the good people who bought there with good intentions a bad rap along with the developers by flamimg the entire "Costa Bonita?" You see there are at least two sides to everything, and negative and positive can be discussed in forums. Some of the best life changing lessons I have learned came from people telling me things that hurt and I didn't want to hear. But I am sure glad I did hear it and with an open mind....... not a mad, negative one toward honesty.

Hola! Thank you for contributing towards my education of life. One should always be open minded and always give a chance to listen to both sides of thought. I ceaselessly toil with what is best economically and socially for the island as opposed to what we need to give up or sacrifice. I think there should be harmony between what is best and right environmentally and be able to balance life between these two. I think tourism is the path to go. I would like nothing else to do than to create day trips to Carlos Rosario, El Yunque, Las Salinas Cabo Rojo and show the wonders and beauties of the island and to educate people from all over the world. Puerto Rico has so much to offer yet, it sometimes comes up short. Thank you for this site that we, the Puertorricans and visitors of the island we so much love can inform and lead others in search of their utopia. Happy travels! J

Well Terry my dear, hear is a few things you
"will be glad to hear it with an open mind".

1. Reviews can be informative without flaming.

2. Costa Bonita WAS a Condo hotel scheme.
The owners bought in for a tax break equal
to their down payment. The units would pay for
the mortgage. In the end they got screwed, but
in the beginning they were complicit.

3. Leave Carlos Rosario off of your day trip
dreams. Culebra attracts weekly guests and
doesn't appreciate being used as a day trip.
Puerto Rico, as you know, has plenty of natural
attractions and lovely villages to satisfy "day
trippers" from San Juan.

OK. This is my last post, you just don't get anything eleven people now have tried to tell you. Even after I showed you one of your own posts that was negative and "flaming" (your word).

I am not debating with you weather Costa Bonita is bad or good. Nor do I want to debate with you about how Culebra should be marketed and developed. We probably agree about that.

I am trying to get you to understand that..... oh never mind. It is like trying to explain to a two year old how to share.

Is not factually correct or even closely related to the history.
So don't get too emotional about something that never was.

My point was you can express yourself without flaming, your
post proves it, except for the last line:

Now for the hurtful but still glad to hear comment:
You apparently are a sweet person, who doesn't process information
correctly. Kinda like a gumball machine, it's all in there, but ya
just never know what you are going to get.

I'm just teasing, don't take it too personal. My point was
NOT TO FLAME, since then, everyone has been flaming me.
Which flaming do you find more offensive, mine against
Costa Bonita, or your inappropriate response.

At least we got rid of those Borschow "dine and slash" yuppies.

Hola! I think day trips are fun and often necessary to get a taste of how a place is. If you enjoy it, you make plans to return and spend more time, if you didn't care for it, at least you found that out for yourself. I've been to many places where someone else advised me what there was to do or how much time to spend and sometimes I've had a different opinion about it.

On another point, I understand about being protective of Culebra, it's beaches, etc. Culebra's main business and maybe sole sustenance, is tourism. Culebra does not have any industries that support its population other than what it does for its tourists and everything that evolves around that. If tourists go elsewhere, which is what is happening now, how will people be able to make a living? Carlos Jeep Rental, Culebra Divers, Posadas and Inns will have to close down, grocery stores and artesans will be affected, it trickles down to the simplest of things.

Carlos Rosario, Culebrita, Flamingo, Zoni, etc., they exist to be enjoyed properly and we need to educate guests who visit, locals and from other parts of the world, how to enjoy these places, take care of them and preserve them for future generations. We need to educate and inform not hide these beautiful resources.

I agree and a small amount of
Day Trips maybe. NO cruise ships.
They use the same excuse,
exposure is good for you, some will want
to come back, as they dump hundreds of
people on tiny beaches. Yuck!
