Holy Week

Hello all
We are excited to be arriving in Culebra late on the 9th of April and staying until the 13th. When I booked this trip I did not realize it was Holy week and Spring break!!! We have been on a day trip to Culebra before, this was in Feb., we found beautiful empty beaches. This time I am worried that we will not be able to go to Flamenco from all I read. It seems that it will be jam packed.
Does anyone have any insight on this time.
Also, someone was asking about the ferries being completely booked for this week, I think, it was in Spanish.

I think we've done our best to answer these types of questions in recent threads. It's worth reading through them.

There are no guarantees.

But somehow all those people manage to get to Culebra, right? Seems like you could be among them!

By the way, getting to and from Flamenco is not a problem. Believe me, the publicos will be working non-stop to bring passengers back and forth.

Have you reserved a jeep? If you have a vehicle you can go to some other beaches which will not be as crowded as Flamenco, Zoni or Punta Soldado for instance. Where are you staying? If you are staying anywhere near town you can snorkel at Melones and that shouldn't be too crowded. If you don't have a car try having a taxi take you to Tamarindo Beach. There are picnic tables there, some shade, nice swimming and snorkeling too. Just bring your lunch and arrange for a pick-up time. Should be much more serene than Flamenco this week. Flamenco as beautiful as it is isn't the only game in town. Enjoy your vacation.

And if you get to Flamenco and feel it's too crowded (it's a very large beach, though), just hike over the hill to Carlos Rosario. It's uncrowded and has the best snorkeling.

Just thought of a few more tips Maggie. If you are staying someplace with a kitchen, or a fridge at least, stock up on supplies when you get here. It is not unheard of for the stores to run out of the staples (bread, milk etc..) on such a busy weekend. Get your shopping out of the way then you can relax! Also, be patient and flexible while eating out. You may find it more enjoyable to perhaps eat a little earlier on a busy Friday night rather than wait for a table during "prime time" If you do go to Flamenco you can get really tasty food from the various kiosks. Nothing fancy but reasonably priced and very convenient. On the weekends you can buy whole rotissere chickens and fresh bread at the bakery behind the airport. Can't beat it with a cold Medalla or maybe some nice cheese and a bottle of wine from El Eden. The Island may seems crowded but you will have fun if you just go with the flow and make the best of it.

what i want to know is if theres eny tickets left for the ferry because i have been getting alot of comments about them having no more tickets for the weekend can someone help me out. And i also have got some comments about that they only ran out of some selected few that they decided to sell early and the rest of them are for the first come first serve...

I don't think that anyone here can be of much help[, Avel. If there are only a limited number of tickets remaining and they're on a first come first served basis, then no one will know until they're actually there.

It's a big risk to try to depend on getting on a ferry on a holiday weekend. Some people will arrive there hours ahead of time to stand in line. And even then a few people with tickets could be bumped by Culebra locals who have priority.

So there's not much we can say.

My advice is to have a nice back-up plan for fun on the PR mainland if you can't get on a ferry.
