If you don't hook up with a naturalist, I can offer a couple hints.
-"The Birds of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands" is the guide to use.
-If you put out a saucer of sugar water, you will likely attract Puerto Rican Hummingbirds and Bananaquits.
-If you see large gatherings of terns or boobies on the water, or pelicans diving, the snorkling is bound to be killer there, too, but you knew that...
-Great birding in the lagoons behind the north coast beaches. Flamenco's lagoon is easily accessible by the back road to the shark pens (ask a local)
-While enjoying the soaring frigates and pelicans, keep an eye peeled for red tailed hawks and ospreys.
