Hello, just wanted to thank everyone for making this forum so great. It has helped immensely in the planning of our trip to Culebra.
I have a question about leaving day.
We plan on taking the 1pm ferry from Culebra on Sunday Jan. 4th to catch a 4:20 plane out of SJU.
Is that pushing it?
Is an hr too little time to get 3 people n' a toddler through check-in?
Also does anyone have any info. about childcare or babysitters on the island?
We would love to be able to enjoy the festivities on NYEve and are looking for some one to watch our 2yr. old.

It's definitely pushing it, though barely possible I suppose.

When we were there last Jan, we took the 1pm ferry... but we had a 6pm flight. Our taxi took us on hour and fifteen minutes all told from the ferry dock to SJU because of traffic.

Jan 4 is in a holiday period... right between Jan 1 and Jan 6 (a holiday in PR). Traffic is likely to be heavy for a Sunday.

You might easily end up arriving at SJU only 30 minutes (or less) before your flight takes off.

Do you have any idea if Mamacitas or Juanita Bananas will be open on Dec. 25th for dinner?

I have been there more than a dozen times, and I would not cut it that close. Your best bet is to take the 11:30 flight to Isla Grande and take a cab to the main airport. It will cost you a lot less than missing your flight and having to rebook. It is very doubtful that the restaurants will be open on Christmas Day.

Everybody brings their children to the plaza - doubt you will find a 'sitter'. You won't need one either - everybody watches everone else's kids. If you want to dance you put the baby down somewhere ;) - when in Rome ...

for SJU e-ticket, e-ticket, e-ticket.

curbside check any luggage (is that still available?) 'cause there is ALWAYS a line of clueless idiots waiting at the ticket counters.

this is why I don't leave the house anymore. next project - lots of cats and precarious stacks of old newspapers.

I'd bet Dinghy of all places might be open on Xmas day.
