Luggage on ferry to Culebra

I've been reading the ferry information and schedule. The statement is made that you are limited to what you can carry. We will have a large suitcase each because we are traveling in PR for 3 weeks. I know I can't "carry" my rolling suitcase. Suggestions or clarification appreciated.

You will be all set. Suitcases of all sizes are allowed. In fact, resident Culebrense will be seen loaded appliances onto the ferry ... and not on their backs.

Little known fact: This rule is in place to prevent the transportation of llamas by the locals and ex-pats.

Queda,

You may be charged "extra cargo" - a dollar or two, depending on the mood of the person taking tickets. No biggie.

Frank, you bring back memories! Before the llama rule went into effect, people were interpreting the "all you can carry rule" to mean "all a LLAMA can carry". And believe me, there's a huge difference. The rules at that time were NOT specific enough.

I once saw a llama with the content of an ENTIRE HOUSEHOLD on its back. Plus a family of five. Needless to say, it wasn't fair to the rest of us on the ferry, because as soon as the llama was aboard, the family unpacked everything, leaving NO ROOM for anyone to sit or stand except in the bathroom. And it is no fun to share a bathroom with 75 others.

Anyway, it was shortly after that the rules were changed, and a direct results was the $1 per bag fee. (We estimated that the above-mentioned family would have had to pay $237 if that rule had been in effect.)

Debbie, thank you. I feel vindicated.

And Michael, may I remind you that the "Are llamas allowed on the beach" thread broke the all-time record for number of replies by... AN.... AMAZING... 50%!!!!

I think that this board, as an open public forum, is obligated to meet the needs and interests of the public at large. And that's clearly... llamas.
