Good morning Vujadin,
As you are driving to Fajardo (& able to get there early as per your info. above) & trying to take the afternoon ferry (the 9am is always even more crowded) you should try to be at the ferry dock as early as possible.
The other option is to go to the airport in Fajardo & attempt to fly stand-by. If you call the airlines, they will likely tell you that the flights are full, however for busy times they do normally put on extra flights to try to accomodate extra passengers.
