St. Thomas to Culebra

Hey Guys and Gals, I'm coming down from Canada on a total whim and good plane ticket - I saw a sliver of an excuse to take off from work or else they would never let me go. Needless to say, I'll be tramping it around the island - no residence, no itinerary, just pure R&R and a couple of bucks. I wanted to ask though if it was possible to reach the island via St. Thomas via Ferry or short plane ride or if I must take a ferry back to PR and then to Culebra? I'm arriving Monday morning in St. Thomas from Bean Town, and then god knows what I will do...I forgot to mention I could just skip the flight to St. Thomas and stay in San Juan and travel by bus down to Fajardo. The sky is the limit here, but visiting this little island of paradise is an absolute must. Anyways, if anyone wants to through out some invites to some ideas for me or wouldn't mind just meeting up and chatting about nothing and everything in between while I'm there, please don't be shy.

There is a ferry that goes from St. John to Fajardo, but it's only one Sunday a month, a call to the ferry office on St. Thomas is needed. RT is about 100.00 bucks. Flying from St. Thomas to Culebra is going to be about 300.00 round trip.
There are some deals sometimes from STT to San Juan, but you still have to get here from there, which can be another plane hop, or a taxi/ferry ride (the plane is cheaper in the long run). Bottom line...getting to or from St. Thomas, to or from here isn't a cheap trip if you are counting your dollars!
If someone knows of a cheap way to make that trip (beside hanging out and hoping to hear about someone going by boat with spare space), PLEASE post it, we'd all love to know about it!

My friend just flew from STT r/t & took the seaplane to SJU, then Flamenco air SJU to CUL. The seaplane lands just around the corner from where you catch the planes for Culebra. Not cheap, but an option that works.

Clark, you are better off staying in San Juan and coming from there! Even if you take a plane, it will be MUCH cheaper!
