We took the plane from Isla Grande airport, with Air Flamenco, and it was fine. Only about 25 min. The seas were rough for most of our stay, so we didn't try the ferry, but the people we talked to said they would take the plane next time. Part of the problem seemed to be luggage, they just stack it all and you have to wait a while to get it after. Also they were pretty sea -sick, but it may have just been a freak thing with the weather. We rented a small boat for a few days and the swells were pretty big. Flight was pretty smooth, and I wouldn't have missed the ariel view of the islands and reefs for anything!! It was one of the highlights of our trip. Fare was $95.00 per person round trip, plus 45 cents per pound for luggage over 25 lbs. They did not weigh my laptop, huge travel purse, or my husbands backpack, so we put most of the really heavy stuff in there. We packed for 2 weeks plus scuba gear, and still only had to pay for about 45lbs extra. The flight also required a taxi ride from the international airport to Isla Grande, about 20.00 per car. Flight is more expensive if you go direct from the international airport. You can take a shorter and less expensive flight from Fajardo, but then you have about a $70.00 taxi ride. If you fly I don't think you will regret it. Even being a little airsick is better than if you are seasick for a long ferry ride, and then have to wait around for luggage and transportation at the other end with kids who are tired and bored. Good luck. Wish I was going there instead of just getting home to Michigan!! Have a lot of pictures I will try to email if you are interested let me know what you would like to see. Jean
