Weight limit on the airplane from Isla Grande to culebra on Flamenco Air is 25 pounds although I think if you arranged ahead of time, they would take more weight, they just need to plan on it.
I also vote for either grocery store-Milka or the one on the hill (senior moment, don't remember the name)both are fine. Just remember to plan ahead as they are both closed on Sundays. The produce truck comes over to the island on Fridays (at least last year they did)-he parks at the intersection by the airport. Get there early-last year he had great produce but it goes early. I vote for the water taxi to Luis Pena as then you don't have to worry about how sturdy you are to get a kayak over there and back and currents, etc. There are lots of other places to snorkel however if you don't want to go to Luis Pena. We love Soldado consistently.
Also, the Deli , El Eden will make you a great picnic lunch to take with you-they have fabulous food and are very accomodating. They close at 4 pm some days so if you can't make it back by dinner, that's a good option. Also, don't forget about Cable beach--have someone point out the road to you behind the Deli. Flat beach, easy access-but people camp there so be aware of being in someone's "space".
We like Mamacitas consistently for dinner - Susies is good but the wait is outrageous. Also, if you really want to splurge a bit, hit Juanita Banana's. Fantastic food, a little $$$. Call ahead for reservations. Nothing is better than the pinchos and food on Flamenco when you're hungry but last year they were only there on the weekends.
Sorry to be so long-can you tell we love it there?
Have fun - we'll be there in 2 weeks, can't wait
