Culebra - Flamenco Beach
Flamenco Beach is considered the second most beautiful beach in the world by Discover Channel and by far the most popular beach in Culebra.
Its white sandy beach stretches along the entire bay, you will feel the Caribbean sun everywhere and wonder why you had waited this long.
Flamenco is a great place to snorkle, sunbathe, swim, socialize and camp out.
The beach is easily accessible thus making it a definite stop for most visitors.
You will find the campground office located right at the entrance to Flamenco beach, as this is the only spot on the island that camping is allowed.
Take the time and walk along the shore, soak up the clarity of the water and the foamy waves. Splash a little, swim a little, roast yourself in the sun and at the end of the day, you just might remember the old Coppertone ads from the late 70's :)
There are only very few places to stay right on Flamenco beach, so making reservations early is pretty much the only way to go.
If you are doing the day trips, you will find plenty of 'amenities'. There are several kiosks which rent the typical beach accessories; chairs, umbrellas, tents and other camping gear. Others sell food and drinks, including the perfectly tropical 'PiƱa Colada'.
There are outdoor showers with fresh water in operation from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, bathrooms that are open all the time, and water tanks along the walk that have fresh water.
Enjoy, bring your whole family, camping gear, and plenty to barbeque and you are all set. Or just bring a book, some sunblock and a teeny tiny bikini.
