We just got back...tanned...relaxed and missing Culebra already! It was one of the best trips we've ever taken...we are thinking of bringing the kids next time!
We flew over from San Juan on Air Flamenco and took the ferry to Fajardo when we left. The ferry is much cheaper and no luggage constraints! So next time we will plan better and take the ferry both ways.
We stayed at Culebra Beach Villas #13...not luxurious, but not shabby. It did the trick! No tv but who needs it on a true relaxing vacation. We dined out so we did not use the kitchen. Just kept ice and drinks in the fridge. It is in a perfect location...right on Flamenco Beach! It is close to town if you have a rental jeep..we did. The beach was quiet...the crowds were down by the public entrance. We took a stroll down there one day and shopped at the Kiosks.
We had dinner at Mamacitas and the Dinghy Dock. Great food and ambiance at both!!! We ate our breakfasts at the Bakery in town..Guava pastry for me!! I missed them this morning!! My husband had eggs and pancakes!
We spent some of our vacation there then went to the mainland. We took a taxi to the El Conquistador..about $20 and picked up our rental from Avis. We drove to EL Yunque and explored the rainforest..did the full hike to La Mina and around then walked back to our car...whew! Stopped at Luquillo Beach..then drove to Isla Verde to the Intercontinental. We relaxed at the pool, sat at the beach there, dined, gambled and went into Old San Juan one night! This vacation had it all....can't wait to get our pictures back and start planning our next trip!
