Ferry

I know there is probably no sure answer about this, as I have scoured the internet for one, but I was wondering about taking the 7pm ferry to Culebra. Normally I would take a plane but there is no viable option since we arrive at 3pm on a Saturday in February. If we get to Fajardo ferry around 4pm for the 7pm ferry is that enough time to get a ticket? Should we be concerned about it being sold out?

I have taken the ferry in the past but it was always during the off-season so I never had an issue with getting a ticket the same day. Since this is a much more popular time of year I wanted to make sure I planned accordingly.

The ferry can be pretty unreliable.

I highly suggest you take the plane route. There are several small carriers that should have flights that work for your schedule. In addition there are a few charter companies for reasonable fees that will fly you over based on your schedule.

Companies with set flight schedules: Cape Air, Air Flamenco and Vieques Air Link

Charter flights: Taxi Aero, Air Margarita

Make sure you look at flights schedules from both airports (San Juan and Isla Grande). The Isla Grande is a quick 15-20 minute taxi ride from San Juan International.

We've used John's Publico to get to Fajardo and he's bought the ferry tickets ahead of time for us - johnspublico@yahoo.com.
I saw Air Flamenco has a 4:30 flight out of Isla Grande on Saturdays in February - if you're getting in at 3:00, I would think you can definitely catch that.

There are also flights to and from Ceiba.
