Boqueron visit
Culebra, Puerto Rico

I'm considering visiting the Boqueron area and foregoing our annual Culebra vacation. Has anyone stayed in the area and have any thoughts? We love Culebra and the beaches and are very hesitant to try out something new since we know we love coming to Culebra. Just thinking about trying something new and different, monotony collapses time novelty unfolds it. Thanks.

I cannot tell you how Boqueron compares to Culebra, but I do love your quote "monotony collapses time novelty unfolds it"! How true is that!!

Enjoy Culebra!

Cabo Rojo is beautiful. Not a whole lot to do down there, but it is a relaxing atmosphere. Playa Sucia is a great little spot near the lighthouse.

It's no Culebra, but it is nice.

Michael the quote is from Moonwalking with Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything by Josh Foer. Excellent short read.

Specialk, can you expand on the cons comparing the two. Is it the beaches, the town, the people, etc that really separates the areas. We don't need much to do on vacation. We spend our week in Culebra back and forth between Flamenco and Zoni. I don't want to spend a week vacation in regret for not coming back to Culebra.
I'm trying to save a buck by going to Boqueron. We will have a two year old next year and will have to start buying an extra plane ticket and also can save on lodging in Boqueron.

Thanks

Derek

I've been to the Boqueron area a few times (I live in Aguadilla, NW corner of island). Here is what I like about that area:

The beaches are great. Really, truly great. Playa Sucia, in my opinion, beats Flamenco. Buyé Beach is also very beautiful. Just really great beaches down there.

The people are just as friendly as Culebra, IMO. I've had interactions with cops, tow truck guys, mechanics (Can you tell that was a bad day, lol), beggars, waiters, and store clerks. Everyone wants to get to know you, just like on Culebra.

The town isn't as charming as Culebra, but that's just because of Culebra's cute little size. It may not be as charming as Culebra, but it is still a nice place. One of the nice things about being down there is that you're close to all sorts of really really cute little towns. Joyuda is near (Fresh fish, snorkeling), Gilligan's Island, and more.

My $.02? I think you'll enjoy yourself quite a lot in that area. The waters are calm and beautiful and the people are friendly. What more could you want? :)

Specialk,
Thank you so much for the information. My employer is actually opening a new location in Aquadilla at the airport. They'll be next to FedEx.

Also, thank you Michael for hosting an excellent and informative forum. I realize my question was a little out of place, but appreciate and respect the advice of the community on the forum so much. thanks

Derek
