does anyone else ever wonder why we have what seems to be a perfectly good, new, ferry terminal building that We Never Use? Never?
Instead we have tarps and portable railings to herd the "cattle". (u-g-l-y)
i miss the time when one could visit the plaza by boat. the public boaters used to be able to tie up where the passenger ferries currently do. the kids used to swim there in the summer as well. there were no railings or tarps. all in all it was a much more pleasant experience to vist "downtown".
we are still using the same ferry boats as we were then so nothing has changed there. the cargo still ties up where it always has but the passenger ferry needs to start docking where it used to, at the end of the canal or at the end of the dock outside of our brand new building that We Never Use.
the ferry dock now looks more like a prison camp than the once inviting place it used to be just a few short years ago. the boats are the same ones we were using before and the schedule remains about the same so there has been no real increase in ferry traffic to justify taking over what should be public space.
this does not make sense. we are not using our ferry dock in the most efficient manner (we used to!) and in the process have denied public access and made the place much more uninviting and less visited therefore home to less economic activity.
Citizens of Culebra - Bring Back Our Public Dock and Our Public Area (the potato chips) do not let the government (ATM) take what is rightfully ours!
If you agree, start talking about this, tell your frineds and neighbors, anyone who will listen, tell them to tell some one else. call Ivan's office. do something!
Let's Take Back Our Dock and Plaza!
