Good morning,
Out of a fleet of approximately 12 boats there are usually 3-4 running at any given time. In order for the "schedule" to function as close to on schedule (notice I did not say on "time") as possible each island needs a min. of 2 boats (one passenger & one cargo).
At the present time Culebra only has one boat working. This can change on a daily basis.
Sometimes folks who take the ferry one time out of the whole year get lucky & it runs perfectly & pretty much when it should according to the schedule, however a a year-round resident & someone who is keenly in tune with the ferry schedules daily- as we have guests who come & go to/from the island every day- & all year round the chances of being delayed or significantly delayed increase dramatically with the ferry over flying.
Can you get here on the ferry? Yes. Will it be full? Sometimes (depends on the time of year, if boats are combined, etc.). Will it be on time? Maybe.
For my valuable vacation time, I'd rather fly & have less wasted time & frustration & more time to relax & enjoy my holidays.
Best,
Terrie
