Sailboat Wrecked On Reef At Manglar Bay

Sadly, a boat went hard on the reef off Cabeza De Perro last night about 8. I've posted some pictures here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2879736389781.2152761.1151166141&type=1

A yellow Tow Boat was at the wreck just now, and one person spent about 30 minutes aboard, eventually leaving with a kayak. Not sure if they are under contract by the owners, who were taken off by the Coast Guard last night, or are just assessing. Hard to imagine how the boat can be removed, short of a helicopter, without plowing a furrow through a lot of coral.

I hope the owners are okay, and if anyone knows them, and they need anything done on the boat, just let us know. It is easy to get to from where we are.

Two Sea Tow boats trying to tow the sailboat off the reef now. Can't be easy to drag 10-plus tons of boat across 50 meters of shallow coral reef. Hard to say if they are making much progress.

Two kids who do not know what they are doing should not be sailing at night in 20 knt winds and 4-5 ft seas. They are lucky they didn't sink that vessel off the tip of Culebrita and then get blown into the deep passage. And it's only 1' deep there to shore. They could have walked to the beach and saved the helo expense.
