whats happening with the ferry this week?
i heard things got worse.
is that true?

This is from a different web site:

The passenger Ferry schedule for tomorrow Sunday
Fajardo to Culebra . . . 9:00 am - 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Culebra to Fajardo . . . 6:30 am - 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

There may be an additional one at 8:30 pm from Culebra
but that is not certain yet.

It was a new post on www.Culebraonline.com and not a reposting of the old usual normal schedule. Hopefully Terrie or someone else will confirm the ferries are starting to get into order.

The ferries are still up & down. The problem at the moment is that the government is putting the maintenance contract out to bid, but it hasn't actually been sorted as yet, so rather than the 10 boats in the fleet with 4-6 or so working (normally), there are 2 or 3 functioning. Note, that even at good times, there are several boats down at any one time.

Several days in a row things will go like clockwork....then they won't.

Flying is faster & you have a much better chance of the schedule being closer to the actual timing. I always tell guests you are paying in time or money, & for my vacation I'd rather spend a bit more money & enjoy my time :)

From reading all the postings on this forum, I was very concerned about taking the ferry to Culebra, so i decided to go the day before and purchase my tickets. I was able to purchase my tickets without a problem and on the way back enjoyed a visit to "El Yunque" rainforest and Luquillo Beach. From speaking to port authority personnel and Culebra locals, it appears that the passenger ferry does not have any issues but the main problem is with the cargo ferry that is needed by the locals to transport their cars and supplies that they purchase from the mainland. My sympathies to the locals that have to deal with this problem day in and day out. Hopefully this will be resolved soon!

I found the passenger ferry to be exactly on time and a very scenic enjoyable voyage to Culebra 1.5 hr trip. That being said I travelled mid week and it was not a holiday weekend. The price cannot be beat! I paid $6.50 for 2 people roundtrip. A great price for a ferry ride with a view! That being said, if you are on a short weekend trip and need to save time and get to Culebra right away, the airlines is your best bet.

Good afternoon,
The passenger & cargo ferries have their ups & downs. There is no way to say for certain what the ferry situation will be in say, a month, or even next week. We ask our guests to just check with us as we're the "eyes on the ground."

As per the above re: advance tix. sales, in Culebra, they are not sold ahead of time on weekends, holidays, or after 3pm, just FYI.

We took the cargo ferry for our return back to Fajardo...and I'm sure if I had done enough research I would have known this was possible...we enjoyed it so much more - fewer people, smoother ride (even with what appeared to be the same weather/ocean conditions). It was like we had our own private ride! The seats on top are not as comfortable...just benches...but we loved it...it also gives a person a few more choices for times available to return to/from Culebra!

Hi - we are going down later this week and would like some more detail on the ferries. We will be going over from Farjado on Saturday morning - realistically what time do we need to get there to make the 9am? And back on Sunday on the 5pm? We will most likely also leave our rental car in Farjado at the ferry?? Any other advice is appreciated!!
