Sounds like an oxymoron "Eco Tours on jet skii". The eco tour portion of the rental is a visit to DRNR on land. I applaud the visit to DNRA however, let's take kayaks on eco tours and not "zoom zoom" around on jet skis. I dont think the turtles at Tamarindo would appreciate 500 lbs of jet ski riding in their home.

Ok if you put it that way let's ban all the motor vessels in culebra. Let's not allow anyone to come into our bays in a motor vessel.

Its about time people get a grip on life.

Our jet ski polute MUCH LESS than any motor vesel in our bay right now. I does not have a propeler like the motor vesels in our bay therefore they cannot hurt a turtle if we were to hit one. It will just push it away , unlike a prop vesel. Talk about oxymoron? Our vesels are MUCH LESS noisy than most of the motor vesels that come into our bay every day.

And we go at moderate speeds in the designated areas as stipulated. We are all about giving our visitors a lerning and fun experience while teaching them to protect our enviroment rather than drinking beer and poluting like a lot of our visitors do!!!

I still am surprise to come up with people with that old mentality. But it helps me promote this even more and makes my point stronger.

I truly appreciate your imput althought I disagree with it.

The pollution is from the noise which imposes on the peace and quiet of anyone and everyone on the island. I can't say what it does to the sea life. Before I read down through the letters I was about to say exactly what JohnW said, "Sounds like an oxymoron "Eco Tours on jet ski"

I need some help.

For years when people ask me to describe Culebra, and knowing they are familiar with more developed Caribbean islands like St Thomas etc, my standard answer is: "If you're looking for jet skis, Culebra is the wrong place for you."

Okay gang, let's come up with some new answers.

Oh, one more thing.

Alfred, I am sorry if you think that people that are aghast at this jet ski thing are victims of that "old mentality."

In a strange way, realizing that we have unique resources to protect and preserve is a "new mentality", not an old one. I know, I know ... that's sounds crazy and weird. But you are going to have to trust me on this one Alfred as you wiz around on your eco-tour jet-ski.

Maybe these folks just understand that Culebra is different in a very special way and some people are going to ruin it without fully understanding or comprehending what they are actually doing.

Jet skis in Culebra..??? You have got to be kidding.. this must be one of those joke threads.. Many places n Vt. have banned those crafts.. There is nothing ECO about them. Maybe they are just out there for target practice for the citizen militia.? It just seemed a matter of time before mainstream World seeped in.. Too bad.. That is about the last thing I would like to see ( or hear) when I'm on Zoni.. What could possibly be next, Jerry with a new jeep?

Friends in Isla Verde had befriended a pair of semi-tame manatees...it was so cool to watch them surface and dive to the sea grass bottom of the bay. When one was carved up by a speed boat, the other kept surfacing, looking for the other, we guessed. After a Sunday of jet ski races the problem was over. No manatees, since.

I believe this has been tried before. I think a year or so ago there was a company renting jet skis and also doing parasailing. Didn't last long, equipment issues from what I heard. Keep the faith.
