Places to eat in Culebra
Culebra, Puerto Rico

Where are some of the good places to eat on the island? My fiance and I both do not like seafood btw, will we still have some selection other than fish? Also, what are the costs like for a couple eating out for lunch and dinner typically? Is it more expensive because the island is semi-remote?

Thanks in advance guys!

I did see the link to "Food & Drink." I just mainly want to know if there is still a good selection of food outside of fish. Also, is it true that meals cost around "$50 - $80" per person at the restaurants like it says on the Food & Drink link??

Thanks again

Vacationing to an island and don't like seafood!?!? Maybe switch the trip to Texas. Great Steaks there!

Seriously, there is chicken any place you want to go. Mamacita's has a good variety and everything I had was good. Lunch menu is real reasonably priced. The best and cheapest lunch option is the fresh bakery/deli at the end of the street that Mamacita's is on. You can get lunch wrapped to go for the beach for about $5 for a sandwich big enough for two.

I would drop about $80 at Mamacita's for a family of four if we had quite a few drinks, but most meals can be split.

The Pizza place (Heather's??) is also good and not expensive. There were a couple of High-End places we stayed away from, but everything else was OK. There is also a little grocery store right across the bridge from Mamacita's where you can get almost anything you need. Especially good for picking up the Pina guava juice, OJ and Rum for rum punches at the beach!!

Don't overlook the food kiosks at Flamenco Beach -- very reasonably priced and taste very good, especially after you come back from a day of snorkeling/sunbathing at Carlos Rosario and Tamarindo. You smell the food as you walk into the parking lot, and suddenly it just doesn't seem like a good idea to wait until you get to town to eat. Grab a cold Medalla and some food, shoo the stray cats away, and you're set to go.

Great burgers, very reasonable, at El Batey.

What if you love seafood? Are there any fishmarkets, or is it a ferry ride back to the main island? We talked about spear fishing, but I hear that's out of the question, and I'm not sure about fishing from the banks. I just would hate to eat a Burger or pizza on a Caribbean island

Plenty of fish to be had in the restaurants. Had grouper at Bahia Marina, mahi mahi at Dinghy Dock, and fried snapper at Mamacitas, all under $20. Also try Susie's, check her menu on her website.

Don't skip Barbara-Rosa's (on road between school and airport). Seafood, pork and beef...... all really good and reasonable!

I put a heavy second on what Doug said. DO NOT miss the burger at El Batey. They are easy to find, and a must for lunch. enjoy!
