I agree with snorkeling at Carlos Rosario. I have a lazy 15 year old daughter and she made the hike fine in the sweltering heat of July. Apply bug spray, we got bit many times, maybe because it was summertime or they like to wait and hide in the vegetation to suck on new blood. LOL!!! Only 20 minutes long. Tamarindo is rough, we didn't even attempt it, my daughter chicken out, too but, Carlos Rosario was like a plate (as we puertorricans call calm waters, el agua estaba como un plato). You can see many marine life. Get a fish book or a sheet that identifies all the fish in the area, I bet your kids would like to see afterwards if they can name all the fish, corals, etc they saw while snorkeling. Awesome brain coral in that area. We stayed at Casita Tropical. Molly and Jerry are wonderful hosts, please see my previous posts about Casita Tropical. Very reasonably priced for a family. It was great! Happy travels! J
