We visited Culebra during the same week last year. We had a wonderful time. We stayed at Casita Tropical, check their website (they are linked to this site). It was very well priced for the 3 of us and included microwave, fridge, kitchenette, beach gear, bicycles, check out their site for more. The hosts, Molly and Jerry were great, even picked us up and dropped us off at the ferry. Nice, clean place. Would stay there again. We did not rent a car, just biked, walked or took the publico for $2 a trip. We even hitch hiked on one occasion and on another, Molly took us to the beach. You can't take your rental vehicle to Culebra, there are parking lots in Fajardo where you can leave it. There are car rentals in Culebra, just check out this website for more info. Definitely visit beaches Flamenco, Carlos Rosario, and Zoni. There are water taxis to get to other areas for good snorkeling as well, check this website but Carlo Rosario was a perfect place for great snorkeling, just 20 minutes through a path starting from Flamenco Beach parking lot. Where to eat for a low price but good food, the vendors at Flamenco Beach, grab a pincho or chicken on a stick, rice and beans, etc, El Batey for grilled chicken, rice, stewed beans and salad for $8. Upscale, Mama Rosa's (BYOB), Mamacita's (a little pricey for my taste but good), and Dinghy Docks (ditto the previous comment). You should by tickets to the ferry in advance, July is a very busy time at the Fajardo port because all the locals go to Culebra. Call the port, look under the topic "FERRY UPDATE" for their numbers. Charge your tiks with a credit card and the will give you a reservation number to pick up your tiks at the window on departure date. Get there early, just because you have a tik doesn't mean you are assured passage on the boat. Do your research and plan ahead, this site will help you achieve that. Happy travels! J
