Culebra Beach Villas

My daughter and I will be staying at Culebra Beach Villas in a couple weeks. I understand the beach is incredibly beautiful which is why we decided to stay there in the first place.

After booking one of the villas, I have read conflicting reports on various websites concerning the condition of the villas themselves. Some folks mentioned rats, bedbugs, dirty linens, broken appliances and windows without screens creating an insect problem. We are just looking for a clean, comfy space to shower and sleep and plan to spend the rest of the time exploring the island. Should we be concerned about the cleanliness and general quality of the Culebra Beach Villas?

You will need to specify which villa - they all have different owners - and then a lot depends on your 'standards'. There are some very good reviews here in this Forum, where you can get the bigger picture!

Hey Michael!

Thanks for the response. We are staying in Villa #3 behind the main house. As for our standards, just clean and comfortable. My family and I like trekking and camping in beautiful, remote spots. So I know Culebra will be perfect in that way.

We stayed there for a week in January and found them to be very clean and comfortable...they're nothing fancy, but for a clean place to sleep and shower you won't be disappointed. No rats or bedbugs while we were there but lots of cats and roosters :) The linens were clean when we arrived and they'll give you fresh ones when you need them. We were very happy with the accommodations and would definitely stay there again. Can't beat staying right on one of the most amazing beaches in the world!

We read the same mixed reviews you did before we went and I think the people that bashed the place were probably expecting some kind of luxury resort and were appalled at the idea of having to make their own beds.
