This is what I told someone the other day about coming here in October. There are some places that will be closed...but less than in September. The possibility of a hurricane is always there, but you will be taken care of, in the worst case scenario. You'll have a hell of a story to tell and you can be of help. It's quiet...veddy veddy quiet, which, while none of us are making money at that time, is the reason we came to Culebra in the first place, so we enjoy it, even if we gripe a bit.The weather is starting to cool off a tiny bit after the serious heat of summer, but it's still beach time weather.
And that's what I think about October (poor questioner...they just wanted a "is it safe yes or no" answer, I'm sure, and Mort as well!).
Truth? People write here a lot asking about the weather, the this and the that. We can generalize, as those who live here or those who have visited often or have part time homes here, but the reality is, the unexpected isn't so unexpected for us (and nearby islands as well, believe me). Maybe that is what keeps us from needing extra added excitement in our lives...we really DON'T know what tomorrow will bring, be it the weather, the ferry, the planes, the markets, the gasoline, the water, the electric, the "stuff I HAVE to have" that might or might not be available.
I for one am just hoping the veggie guy doesn't slow down to every three weeks...or go on vacation altogether from Culebra until Season starts again. But...as we know well, he will or he won't and we'll be just fine...and really excited when he shows up again with *the little things that make a difference*.
