We stayed there for a week in June of 2005. It's located on the hillside directly across from the airport. We had an efficiency and were the only people in the building that week so it was very quiet. The apartment was clean and well furnished with A/C (a must for us since the level of humidity down there is very high) and satellite TV. The only downside to our apartment was there were no windows but the bigger apartments do have windows. It's a fairly short walk (less than a mile) into town but there's a pretty steep hill leading up to the apartment on the return trip. We walked into town each evening for dinner and had no problems walking back after dark. There's also a small grocery store very close by which was very handy. The walk out to Flamenco Beach is around 2 miles but each time we attempted it a local would stop and insist on giving us a ride which we accepted. We rented a car for a couple of days from Thrifty since they offer a discount to anyone staying at Vista Bella (I think the owner's daughter runs Thrifty). We mainly wanted the car to drive out to Zoni Beach which is well worth the trip. If you can somehow swing a ride out to Zoni you could get by without a car while staying at VB. I would stay there again, which I guess is the best recommendation I can give.
