We just got back from our 2nd trip to Culebra and I thought I would post a couple of things. Hopefully they might help someone out for their trip planning.
If you are looking to spend some serious time lounging on the beach, I HIGHLY recommend renting beach chairs from Culebra Beach House (next to Dinghy Dock). If you rent more than 1 day, they are $5/day and they are ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT! They have built-in leg rests that you just flip out and you can adjust the back almost all the way back. They also have a pillow!
Juanita Bananas has great food. I know, not new information, but worth repeating.
Barbara Rosa's was closed until somewhere around the end of June? when we were there.
Dinghy Dock has consistenly decent food, with a beautiful view and great hours. The bar is always a fun spot to hang out.
Bahia Marina has a fun bar and good food too. We didn't eat at their nicer restaurant upstairs (Dakity), but had a good grouper (NOT fried!) sandwich at the Shipwreck Bar & Grill. Again, pretty views and fun people. If you go, you HAVE to try Wilma's sangria. She has a red and a white version. I only tried the red, but it was WONDERFUL!! Best sangria I've ever had. Oh, I know someone posted a while back about having trouble booking a place there. Apparently, there was a change in management around that time, but it is back to the previous management now and will stay that way. We stayed there our 1st trip (when it was under this management) and really enjoyed it. The pool is great and the view is stunning from pool deck. The rooms and landscaping are all really beautiful.
We rented from Carlos Jeep again, which went incredibly smoothly. Did our reservation online, no problems, wonderfully convenient and got a new jeep in our choice of color!
We went out on our last day with Taz Hamrick from Aquatic Adventures. We only snorkel, but it was a great trip. The highlight was definitely Carlos Rosario. We saw a Hawksbill turtle, Spotted Eagle Ray, and lots of amazing fish (trumpet fish were cool). Taz is a great guide and the trip even included lunch. It was incredible to see the island from the water and a great way to end the trip.
Okay, maybe this wasn't such a "quick" trip report. We can't wait to go back!
